Privacy Policy

What we don't do

• No third-party analytics or tracking.
• No advertising, and no selling or sharing of your data.
• No passwords. You sign in by magic link, Google, Apple, or a one-time code texted to your phone.
• No public profiles, follower counts, or browsable directory. Friends can find you by your username or, if you choose, by your phone number, but both are optional and there is no way to browse strangers.

What we collect

• Account info: your email address, and a display name, username, and optional avatar you choose. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email and basic profile from them to create your account.
• Phone number: if you sign in with a phone number or add one in Settings, we store it to sign you in and, if you leave discoverability on, to let friends who already have your number find you.
• Contacts:when you tap “find friends from your contacts,” your contacts' numbers are turned into secure hashes on your device, and only those hashes are checked against hum members. Your contacts are never uploaded, and the hashes are not stored.
• Your content: the voice memos, optional intro clip, emoji reactions, voice replies, and any prompt text or location label you add.
• Notification tokens:if you opt in to push notifications, your browser's push subscription, so we can send the alerts you enabled.
• Feedback: anything you submit through the in-app feedback form, which is emailed to the app owner.
• Location label:if you allow it when recording, your device's coordinates are sent once to a mapping service to turn into a rough place name (like a city). The coordinates themselves are not stored, only the label you see on your hum.

How it's used

Your data is used only to run the app: to authenticate you, show your memos to the friends you've connected with, and send the notifications you've opted into. A friend can only hear a given day's memos once they've posted their own. We do not use your content for any other purpose. Your phone number is used only to sign you in and, with your permission, for contact-based friend matching; it is never used for advertising or shared with anyone.

Where it's stored

Account data and content are stored with Supabase (database and audio storage), and the app is hosted on Vercel. Push notifications are delivered through your browser's push service. Feedback emails are sent through Resend, and place names are looked up through OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service.

Your choices

Every notification type can be turned off individually in Settings, and you can update your profile at any time. From Settings you can also download all of your data as a single file, and delete your accountoutright, which immediately and permanently removes your profile and all of your content and audio. You can also turn off discoverability at any time, which hides you from both username search and contact matching (your personal invite link still works).
